“This bike ride is a team effort to raise funds and awareness for 3 super organizations that help many children, adults, and families as well as making great moments for them! I want to motivate children at my Club for more fitness and zeal to see a bigger world.”

"Everyone needs a hand at times--family, friends, neighbors and colleagues help us along our way. However, children, those with health issues, and the disabled need others to make it through. Along with my sons and friends, I am excited to undertake this fundraising effort for three great charities that provide critical support for others."

      -David M. Platter

“BuddyUpBikeRiders is about working towards an ambitious goal and as a team accomplishing something that can profoundly affect the lives of children in need.”

"The ride across the country may not always be easy but knowing we are doing it for three great causes will keep me motivated."

      -Brian Platter

"The BuddyUpBikeRide got me excited to join this group of like-minded individuals coming together in a monumental challenge to do something simple: Cycling across this beautiful country, one mile at a time, to bring together children in need of love and care and those willing to step up and make a difference."

Our Mission

A 3,000 mile / 30-day bicycle ride across the USA (California to Connecticut) to raise funds and awareness for the Boys & Girls Club of Greenwich, Make-A-Wish Foundation® and the ARC. We aim to build a team of supporters and riders that will share the sense of adventure and friendship and feel the pride of helping children, adults, and families who need our help….”Join the Pack!”

Giving back, helping, and inspiring others is the motivation for the BuddyUpBikeRide. In these difficult times, it is all the more important for those with health, time, or resources to watch out for and help those around us that cannot completely provide for themselves, such as children and the disabled.

In this spirit of “Joining the Pack,” our riders are temporarily stepping away from their jobs and other responsibilities to bring attention to these causes. It is our hope that the act of riding a bicycle across the USA might symbolize the challenges that the less fortunate face and serve as a rallying call for donors to consider giving back and helping others.

The BuddyUpBikeRide will start on May 29th 2010 at the ARC's George Miller Center in Concord, California and end at the Boys & Girls Club in Greenwich, Connecticut on July 2nd 2010.

The Riders aspire to raise $250,000 with 100% of the donations going directly to the Charities. We hope you will consider supporting the BuddyUpBikeRide. Come, join us, “Join the Pack!”

The mission of the Boys and Girls Club is to provide “A Positive Place For Kids.” We enable children, ages 6 – 18, to realize their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens by promoting high-quality educational programs. These afterschool programs build a sense of character and citizenship, maintain diversity, and offer kids a safe, nurturing, and affordable environment to succeed.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Connecticut grants the wishes of children between the ages of 2.5 -18 years old with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength, and joy. We want to provide children with the hope for better times, the strength for the tough times, and the joy to experience the present. We strive to create miracles in the lives of some very special children.
